The Cleaning Lady season 2 premiere, “Sins of the Father,” didn’t pull its punches. Literally. Two lives unexpectedly hung in the balance near the end of the episode.

First there was Arman. He knew that it would only be a matter of time before Hayak caught onto the fact that he’d betrayed him. However, he didn’t expect for the man to turn on him so soon. It seems Arman didn’t factor in that his boss could have correctional officers on his payroll.

One provided Hayak with the evidence he needed to confirm that Arman had been working with the FBI and is the reason why he’s in prison and his business is being investigated. No longer in good with the kingpin, Arman was placed in general population.

Then another correctional officer allowed the mobster to get jumped by two fellow inmates. While Arman saw the attack coming and eventually subdued his attackers, he was stabbed several times and was left bleeding out on the floor.

Elsewhere, Marco had been in a heated argument with Thony over their son Luca and their marriage. They were standing by the stairs of the motel where Marco was staying. Earlier in the day, Thony had successfully thwarted Marco’s efforts to leave the country, but she still hadn’t gotten her son back.

Marco’s plan had been to force Thony into leaving for the Philippines by using Luca as leverage. It didn’t work and Thony had no intentions on going back. She, however, wasn’t going to just leave Luca in Marco’s care.

Concerned that the two would draw attention to themselves, Fiona left the van and went to confront them as did her son, Chris. This made Marco angrier as he’d told Thony to come alone. The situation took a turn when Marco grabbed Chris, the teen pushed his uncle off him. Doing so sent Marco tumbling down the stairs.

It should come as no surprise that Arman didn’t die. But he was in bad shape and being rushed to the hospital by the end of “Sins of the Father.” Marco, however, wasn’t so lucky. The force with which he hit his head going down the stairs caused him to die on impact.

He’s now a bigger problem to Thony and their family dead than he was alive. In a parallel to the season 1 premiere, Thony cleaned up the crime scene. This time it was to protect her nephew. Chris didn’t mean to kill his uncle, but he nonetheless has to carry the weight of ending his life.

And, unfortunately, the incident was caught on tape. While their family doesn’t know that yet, it does leave them vulnerable considering its in the hands of the motel manager and Thony told him that she’s undocumented when she was urging him to call the police about a dead man on the stairs.

She also only haphazardly cleaned the area because it was so out in the open. Thony wiped their prints, but it’s doubtful their troubles with Marco are over. Besides grief and guilt, this family will likely be dealing with a potential murder case if found out at worst or being extorted by the motel manager at best.
